I’m back from vacation!

Monday, May 29th, 2006

I got back home last Thursday.  It took me awhile to unpack and get back on track.  (I will put some pictures here tomorrow)
We went to Savananah for three days.  Went on the ghost walk (lots of fun and a little bit scarey).  I really love Savannah and am thinking that I would like to move there.  I probably won’t unless I can talk my family and friends into going with me.  It’s a beautiful and fun city.  We toured one of the large plantation homes (Pebble Hill).  It was huge.  We were there for most of the day.  It was fun and very interesting to see how the wealthy lived back in their hay day.

Michele is very physically active.  I joined her as often as I could.  She likes to run (I don’t like moving fast when it’s hot.)  I was out often enough that I ended up with a good tan.
We went out to dinner several times - a really cute Mexican Cantina, several local restaurants, a japanese steak house, etc.

We had time for lots of girl talks.  I got to meet several of her large circle of friends, they were all very nice.  I’m glad that she is happy there.  She has finished her education and will be working directly with patients under the supervision of a teacher.  She will be working in marriage and family counseling.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you and catching up with your news.  I’ve missed all of you.

I’m on vacation

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

I’m in Valdosta visiting my daughter Michele. We’ve been having lots of fun. We went up to Vidalia to attend a wedding of one of Michele’s friends. It was a three hour drive. Fortunately we had made reservations for half way home. We tried to take a lot of pictures and will share the ones we have with you.
We went to a park near here and you’ll never believe what I did! Michele wanted to go out in the small lake in a paddle boat. I’ve always been terrified of the thought but I decided I was going to go anyway! It was so much fun and so relaxing. I’m really looking forward to doing it again.
We’ve been going for rather long walks every day. The complex Michele lives in has a sidewalk that goes all around the circle. It’s convenient and clean. We went over to her college. It is such a beautiful campus. We walked around for quite a long time and took pictures.

We’ve gone out to eat a couple of times - once to celebrate Mother’s Day and once to celebrate Michele’s birthday. Michele and I are going on a trip to Savannah. We’re staying in the historic district of Savannah. The trolley can pick us up in front of the Inn. We are planning to take the trolley to the Gryphon Tea Room for lunch. In the evening we will have dinner at the Six Pence Pub and go on the the ghost walk. The Inn offers a continental breakfast. After breakfast we plan to ride on a horse drawn carriage and visit the River Walk for some praline samples.
More later.
